Privacy policy

Last updated: 7 October 2026

Afaq Economic Think Tank respects your privacy and processes your personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Law of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its implementing regulations. This policy explains what data we collect when you use the website, why, and your rights over it.

Data we collect

We collect only the minimum needed to run the website and to reply to you:

  • Technical data recorded automatically by the hosting server when you browse, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of the request.
  • Data you choose to send us through the contact form or by email, such as your name, email address, organisation and the content of your message.
  • Data you send with a collaboration request, such as your name, email, mobile number, nationality, country of residence, city, specialisation, the university that awarded your doctorate, employer, message and CV.
  • Data you send with a partnership request, such as the organisation's name and type, the contact person's name, job title, email and mobile number, and the partnership proposal and its file.

Cookies

The website does not use advertising cookies, or any tools that track or analyse visitor behaviour.

Why we process data

  • To reply to your enquiries and requests.
  • To review collaboration requests and contact the applicants.
  • To review partnership requests and contact the organisations that send them.
  • To operate the website and protect it from misuse.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

Sharing data

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only with the service providers we use to run the website, such as hosting and the contact-form service, to the extent needed for their services, or when a competent authority requires it by law.

The website loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so Google receives your device's IP address when you browse. Some service providers may process data outside the Kingdom; this is done in line with the legal rules on data transfer.

Retention

We keep data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for, or as long as the law requires, and then destroy it securely. Collaboration requests and CVs are deleted once they are no longer needed to review the request, or when the applicant asks.

Security

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect data from unauthorised access, loss or alteration, including encrypting connections to the website over HTTPS.

Your rights

The Personal Data Protection Law gives you the right to:

  • Be informed of how and why your data is collected and processed.
  • Access your data and obtain a copy of it.
  • Ask for your data to be corrected, completed or updated.
  • Ask for your data to be destroyed once it is no longer needed, unless the law requires it to be kept.
  • Withdraw your consent to processing at any time.

Exercising your rights and complaints

To exercise any of these rights, contact us through our Contact us. You may also complain to the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) if you believe your data has been processed in breach of the law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; the date of the latest update is shown at the top of this page.
